The record marks the first time the band from São Paulo opts for lyrics in English rather than Portuguese.

The subjects the songs touch upon remain the same and are still inspired by criticism towards the sovereign state and the capitalist way of life. "Desalmado toured Europe in 2016 and during that time we noticed that the majority of people could feel the band's energy but the understanding with regard to the message was lacking. That was when we decided it was time to go after different goals and the language was an instrumental feature", explains Caio Augustus, lead singer. "'Save Us From Ourselves' is by far our most critical album, the one which most clearly exposes how dissonant the model created by a capitalist society is, and it also proposes a way of engagement through mobilization by the people, be it the workers, oppressed races, women...", Caio adds.

With "Save Us From Ourselves", Desalmado vows to showcase the band's biggest production to date — a band with two European tours under its belt, where they played in festivals such as SWR Barroselas Metal Fest (Portugal) and F.E.T.O. Fest (Spain), besides shows along countless bands and living legends of extreme metal and also tours all over Brazil.

Recorded at Family Mob Studio in São Paulo, "Save Us From Ourselves" is the most carefully produced material ever recorded by Desalmado. The album was produced by the members themselves, alongside Hugo Silva, who was also responsible for mixing the album. Mastering was done by Absolute Master.

"Musically speaking, I see SUFO (Save Us From Ourselves) very much like Desalmado's first real record. This was the first time we worked on each song individually as if they were isolated projects. Layer upon layer, the guitar textures, the vocals, the drums. These are things we had never done before. Each song has its own identity, a different sound and mood. The resulting material for the record is a combination of all these things. And it is also, for me, a new referential, a starting point for what Desalmado will come up with next", says Estevam Romera, the band's guitarist.

"Save Us From Ourselves" is an album where the band breaks free from a specific musical style and merges its grindcore roots along with elements of death metal, crust, hardcore and other influences. This is clearly visible in songs such as "Bridges to a New Dawn", "Blessed By Money" and the title track, which serves as evidence to the fact that the band has found a unique and individual sound.

The album art was made by Jeca Paul, who had already worked with the band, but never on a record. "We have always taken great care when thinking and designing the visual aspects of our work because we believe it serves as another medium that complements the message we are trying to convey. Jeca has designed a few posters for us and the video for the song "It's Not Your Business" also shows some of his art. The language of his work is very akin to what we are saying with Desalmado, so it was actually an easy choice when we invited him to design the artwork", explains bass player Bruno Teixeira.

Desalmado's new record features special guests like drummer Thiago Sonho, who was the band's first drummer, Surra's lead singer Leo Mesquita and drummer Raphael Miranda.

"It is a pleasure to have three amazing musicians and great friends making appearances on this album, they've brought new ideas for the songs, brought new concepts which were critical to making this record different from the previous ones", says drummer Ricardo Nützmann.
"Save Us From Ourselves" will come out on Black Hole Productions, Helena Discos and Desalmado on February 6th.
